A full moon drifts serenely across a luminous arctic sky. Tongues of multi-hued fire dance in the heavens. A feeling of excitement grows as the moment of union draws near, the moment when you will join with your love in everlasting marriage.
The second in Nishimas "Poetics" series, Aurora is inspired by the simplicity and beauty of Asian art fused with Nishimas playful sense of form and color. Blending swirling watercolor abstraction with handmade paper, as carefully composed and balanced as a verse of Haiku poetry, Aurora is a timeless modern classic.
This mixed media "Poetics" collage is constructed from handmade paper that is torn, cut, applied and layered onto a large, colorful watercolor painting. The process is intensely meditative for the artist. She begins with only an idea in mind. No sketches of the artwork are done prior to beginning. Sudden inspirations, "accidents" and the natural beauty of the paper and the watercolor are allowed to "create" the artwork, using the artist as the vessel of expression. Spontaneous, creative, mystical: the words used to describe the process of creating this "Poetics" ketubah also describe the people who love it.

According to Jewish Tradition, forty days before you were born the Angels gathered together and chose your Beshert your Soulmate the one whom you are destined to marry. From that moment on, the Angels gently nudged you towards each other, bringing you closer and closer to the moment when a "chance" occurrence would place you in each others arms.
Have you ever felt that you were like two planets drawn together by some invisible, magnetic force? Did the Universe seem to stop the moment you first kissed? Did you ever look up together at the moon at night and know that it was made just for you? Does your love for each other feel as timeless as the stars?
The fourth in Nishimas "Poetics" Series, Cosmic Fusion brings these feelings (and more) together in a stunning display of color and energy. In this mystical, symbolic vision of a Jewish wedding, two planets (representing the Bride and Groom), each surrounded by a ring of stars (representing your Family), draw towards each other in a moment of magical coming-together.
Covenant of the Covenant: Yesod of Yesod
Yesod of Yesod is the fifth in the Sefirot Series. The Sefirot are considered in Jewish mysticism to be channels of divinity flowing into the world.
May the Bride and Groom be blessed with the sacred gifts of the Sefirah of Yesod: Covenant, Foundation and Bonding.
The Sefirot Series uses abstraction and the interplay of pure, intense color to reflect and inspire the divine flow. This series was strongly inspired by the 20th Century abstract painter and Jewish mystic Mark Rothko.
Yesod of Yesod is a deep meditation on the qualities of Yesod. The color associated with Yesod is Orange. Yesod is also connected to the rainbow and God's Covenant with Noah. The bonding Covenant of marriage echoes this original Covenant.

Petals flowing downstream in a Japanese garden. A silk banner floating on a breeze. The full moon drifting across a cloudbank. The breathless moment under the wedding canopy before you kiss for the first time as newlyweds.
"Flowing Water" perfectly captures these fleeting moments of joy and longing, which vanish in an instant and last for all eternity. The first in Nishimas "Poetics" series, Flowing Water is inspired by the simplicity and beauty of Asian art fused with Nishimas playful sense of form and color. Blending swirling watercolor abstraction with handmade paper, as carefully composed and balanced as a verse of Haiku poetry, Flowing Water is a timeless modern classic.

The branches of two "family trees" join and mingle ~ the coming together of your two families through your marriage. The branches form a protective shelter of Love over the text of your ketubah, your promise to create a loving home in which you respect and cherish each other. Beyond the trees is a stone archway, Ancient and Eternal. It is the arch through which countless generations of Jews have passed. It is the Chuppah, the wedding vows, the exchange of rings and the tinkle of glass shattering underfoot. It is the pathway to your new Life together. Glimpsed through the branches and archway are the green hills and the blue skies of the Promised Land, your Married Life.

Metallic Ink
I can write your Ketubah in any color ink. If you would like for me to use metallic ink, an additional fee of $200.00 will apply. The reason for this is that I have to write the text twice... a very time-consuming process. But the result is beautiful!
Note: Metallic ink is required for most Rothko-inspired images and other designs in which the text sits on top of intense, saturated colors.
