Artist Statement for "Pathways" Ketubah
Artist: Nishima Kaplan
Original media: Pastel, gouache and water on paper
You are lead up a gently winding pathway meant for two, through a field of California wildflowers, towards a hill of lavender, in Nishima Kaplans "Pathways." The Sun has just begun to set and the hills are coming alive with the first hints of golden evening light. A wonderful accompaniment for Couples celebrating an outdoor ceremony, the viewpoint seems to come from under the wedding canopy as the Bride and Groom gaze out over the natural beauty of their surroundings and exhilarate in the moment.
Painted by the Artist in the countryside near San Diego, "Pathways" pulses with a primal energy and joy of life. Each limited edition ketubah is created using a special technique that is overseen at every stage by the Artist herself. "Pathways" has a "powdery" pastel texture that is evocative of the original artwork.
